New Team Logo For Warriors on Water

Central Florida’s first Pink Dragon Boat Team – Warriors On Water – has completed the design of their new team logo.  The Artist, Christopher Archer, was inspired by the Greco-Roman sculpture of Diana Goddess of the hunt and moon, with an infusion of Amazonian warrior history.

The Amazonians were known to remove a breast, so they were able to pull a bowstring taut during battle.  In this logo design, the bow is pink, representing the universal symbol for breast cancer.  The design also incorporates a pink Dragon Boat, symbolizing each woman’s determination to win her battle against breast cancer and help other survivors through friendship and support.

“This warrior represents every woman who is dealing with, or has dealt with breast cancer, hence she has no face.  She is every-woman and a survivor.  She also has no hair, symbolizing the sacrifice most chemo patients endure. And yet, she is still a woman, strong and resilient, feminine in her own right, standing to face her attacker and aiming high.’

“I chose to represent breast cancer survivors as Amazonian warriors and goddess's to align their strength with ancient heroines.  Amazonian history records the sense of family, and the community tribal strength that is represented in the unity forged between each woman.  This mirrors the Warrior on Water: their commitment to the Dragon Boat Race and one another, and their shared trials and victories.”

Women Playing For T.I.M.E. is co-sponsoring Warriors On Water, who will make their racing debut at the Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival, held annually at Walt Disney World Resort and hosted by Disney's Wide World of Sportsâ®.  The organizer for the Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival is Great White North (GWN), a Canadian-based company.  For video of races, please click here. Each year, GWN produces more than 40 dragon boat events, which raise millions of dollars for community and charitable partners. This year, more than 2,200 team participants and 30,000 spectators are expected to attend.

W.O.W.  It's a special honor, being a part of such a fine group of survivors, who share a common goal, and support each other in and out of the water!  Go Warriors!
