WPFT Fall Meeting A Huge Success!

Posted September 15, 2009, 1:11 pm in Leadership

Women Playing For T.I.M.E. hosted its annual Fall Meeting for members of the organization.
More than fifty women attended the  meeting. Many items were discussed including the numerous activities and fundraisers that are planned for September and October. Co-Chair Elaine Lustig opened the meeting and welcomed everyone, including new volunteers and members from Central Florida's first Pink Dragon Boat Team - Warriors On Water - which is being co-sponsored by WPFT at the Dragon Boat Festival being held at Walt Disney World on October 17th.

Kathleen Roat provided the  financial update including information about the completion of the Digital Mammography project. Kathleen also updated the group on Vision RT, a new precision technology that will be installed later this year. Lynette Reynolds introduced many new WPFT volunteers who, following the general membership meeting, attended a special New Member  Orientation meeting.

Welcome new members Dianne Atkinson, Toby Chanes, Deanna Drew-Grisanti, Lauri Houk, Debbie Mayer, Nan McCormick, Toni Short, Sally Stamp, and DJ Stevens.

There was great discussion around the events being planned for September and October including the Bloomingdale’s Walk, the Hope Hike, Saks Fifth  Avenue Key To A Cure/Fine Dining, the Lake Nona Signature Golf Event, Tennis Events, and the Pink Dragon Boat Races at Walt Disney World. Lynda Canatay, Director of Events for WPFT advised that the Panera's Pink Bagel promotion and the ABC Wine and Spirit's Fat Bastard promotion are back in play for this October and asked for everyone's support.

Andrea Eliscu, Vice Chair and Tricia Daniels, Pink Dragon Boat Chair, delivered a presentation about Pink Dragon Boat Racing and WPFT's co-sponsorship of the event at Walt Disney World on October 17th. The Orlando Rowing Club and other local companies have committed to participating in the event by sponsoring Support Dragon Boats.  Paddlers are needed for the Support Dragon Boats. If you, a family member or friend are interested, please contact Lynda Canatay at 321.841.2272 for further information.

Andrea Eliscu provided a current copy of Orange Appeal Magazine. The October edition features a two page article about Women Playing For T.I.M.E. and how the organization has grown and evolved to partner with M. D. Anderson Cancer Institute Orlando, to eradicate cancer and help women and their families in Central Florida.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Elaine Lustig was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the membership, in memory of her husband Seymour, who will always be remembered as  one of T.I.M.E.'s greatest  supporters.

What an amazing meeting!  The room was full of old faces, new faces and so much positive energy!  I was so "pumped up" when I left the meeting!   The eagerness of the new volunteers and the old (me being a 3 year veteran of W.P.F.T.) was incredible.  My gut tells me that this will be a truly incredible and successful year for W.P.F.T. - I look forward to working with everyone involved!

    Let's go and "get em"!!
