I remember not too many years ago when if your doctor mentioned the "c" word it was a virtual death sentence. It's shocking, when you think about it, how many people I'm sure all of us know who have battled the "c" word.
Many have done quite well. It will never be a ho-hum diagnosis, but I believe I started to believe, make that "expect" that in most cases it is survivable.
Well, I've been jolted back to reality. In just a few months, three friends who had breast cancer passed away from the disease.
All were young, under 60, and all were confident they could beat it. It doesn't always happen. So there are no givens when it comes to cancer.
But maybe there should be one. It should be a given that the rest of us will do everything we can to find a cure and support anyone we know who is afflicted.
That's what I love about Women Playing For T.I.M.E. It's a great way to make a difference without having to feel the pain while you're doing it (unless your golf game is REALLY bad!).
Joining and participating not only means fun and friends for you, but it means research and resources for the fight against breast cancer.
Don't think about it, just join it! You won't regret it, nobody does!
