Yes We Can!

Although the survival numbers continue to improve every year, far too many of us continue to lose loved ones every year to some form of cancer. And, sadly, I'm no exception.

In August 2007, my mother-in-law lost her courageous and difficult 18-month battle against ovarian cancer. Like many women, the "silent killer" snuck up on her with its confusing symptoms (bloated stomach, constipation, exhaustion, etc) and before she realized what was causing her discomfort, the cancer was too far advanced to give her much of a fighting chance. But, boy, did she ever fight until the very final moment.

And I think that's the thing that amazes me most about the cancer survivors I meet -- how is it that when you're faced with a fight for your life that you embrace that battle with dignity, grace and true grit? I'm eager to learn more of your stories in this community as we look for ways to destroy this enemy once and for all!
