A good friend and I saw "Julie and Julia" this weekend and it got us talking about what a huge impact Julia Child had on our generation of women. One of the amazing things about Julia is she took a stereotypical female chore (cooking) and created an entire industry out of it. Where would the Martha Stewarts, Rachel Rays and Nigella Lawsons of the world be without that chortling larger-than-life woman who burst onto our screens and changed us forever? Julia made cooking sexy!

Go see it the movie, relish in Meryl Streep's divine portrayal of Julia and take a moment to recognize that she left some huge shoes for all of us working women to fill!
