Regaining My Sense Of Purpose

Dear Friends,

This month, I lost my best friend and husband, Seymour.  And if you knew my Seymour, you would know that Women Playing For T.I.M.E. lost one of their greatest admirers and supporters, too.

He just could not fight the pain and indignity that came from his long battle with Parkinson’s disease.  With him went my heart, but he asked me to promise that I would not walk away from “our” collective life’s work, on behalf of Women Playing For T.I.M.E. There is too much positive momentum and too much hope and goodwill that has been cultivated from the last 17 years, for me to leave the organization now!

I have missed being with all of my friends at WPFT these past many months, but you knew that Seymour needed me.  Thank you for all of your love and support.  We both felt it every minute of every day. I also appreciated that all of you stayed focused and continued our great work to help find a cure for cancer. And now, I need you more than ever.

When I think about the many initiatives that have been completed over the last few months, I am so proud of our new website, WPFT.org ,and I am so happy to be able to speak with you through this amazing new WPFT Community! Beautiful friends and volunteers have all contributed to this amazing communications resource, but I think the entire world will be overwhelmed when they see what we will ultimately accomplish. Please visit our online Community often.  Let your voices be heard.  We need you!

Thank you again, my dear friends, for all you have done for me, for my family, and for my beloved Seymour.  I now understand the significance of one of his final messages to me. I have now regained my sense of purpose and it’s time for me to get back to work! I can’t wait to see all of you again!

Much Love To All….

EL

    Elaine,

So sorry to hear of Seymour's death.  He was a lovely man.  Your dedication to him and to WPFT both inspire me so.  It's an amazing kind of generosity and energy you bring to the world.  Thanks for all you do.  I'll see you soon!!
    Much love

    Bob

Elaine - Although I've been involved with WPFT and known you only a short while, I've come to appreciate the enormity of your accomplishment in starting and growing this organization. I was saddened to learn of your loss. You are in my thoughts and in my heart.

    Elaine,
What a wonderful note you shared with us.
We understand the love you shared with Seymour.  It was a beautiful romance for 64 years, I think I heard someone say.

You are always a part of everything we do, present or not.  We love you.
    Andrea
