Thousands of years ago in China, dragon boating began as a community celebration.
Today, dragon boating is gaining new popularity as people across the world rediscover this ancient sport that requires teamwork, synchronization and trust.
On a summer day, one by one, they came -- Orlando Health executives, doctors, nurses, and employees to drum up excitement for dragon boating in Central Florida and to find out what the hype is all about.
They discovered an activity that brings together people of all ages, athletic abilities and backgrounds.
"It's just a great team-building thing for Orlando Health," says Orlando Health President and CEO Sherrie Sitarik. "We're all really focused on health and wellness, and for all of us to be able to get out here and paddle together is really a great team effort and something fun to do."
The boats help raise crucial funds for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando and Women Playing For T.I.M.E. and provide all paddlers with a healthy way to team up and support one another and support a great cause.
Watch this story and see how dragon boating is changing lives.
